Searching for a Toyota Tacoma on Craigslist is like diving into an Amazonian river of piranha scammers. You go in empty handed and come out with ten of them clamped to you. Here’s a Tacoma response from Anne. I knew she was a scammer off the bat but wanted to hear her story.

I would like to let you know upfront that this Tacoma is priced at: $2850
I also like to tell you that I’m not selling this vehicle for profit or due to a lack of money. The reason for selling is that some recent events in my life made me change my perception of certain things that I considered important in the past. The funds received after this sale will be directed towards charity. Right now I’m traveling with UNICEF as a volunteer.
On the other hand, you shall know few things about the truck. The title is clear and is in an excellent condition without any dents or scratches. It was always garaged and the regular maintenance was done in time as well as the oil changes. The truck was never involved in any accidents or flood damage. The motor never let me down, look great and run smoothly.
I’m not trying to offend you, but if you intend to apply for a loan or financing, please don’t go any further because the truck is priced for a fast sale, and I require a cash transaction. The process will be managed by eBay Company and the transaction will be made only through their eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection plan for the safety of both. If you are still interested and ready to agree with my terms, please reply so I can forward you the detailed description of the eBay Vehicle Purchase Protection Plan.
I am looking forward to your reply.
Thank you,
Anne

Dear Annie,

annerobertson2@gmx.com
i want to buy ur 2007 cbr asap so could u call me @ 313 989 6376
Anne is now selling a Toyota Highlander on Craigslist: http://clarksville.craigslist.org/cto/1706802819.html
and, coincidentally, for $2850!
You know whats fucked up i was doing a little investigating for my sister, she was in the process of the same transaction with this person. too bad the money was wired… is there anything i can do to help her out.
Sorry for the delayed response. I’m honestly not sure if much can be done once the money has been wired but try these sites: http://www.consumerfraudreporting.org/reporting.php, and http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx, both of which will at least try to prevent others from getting scammed in the future, and hopefully even help you guys with the money situation…sorry to hear it.
Looks like Anne is still up to it, now she is selling a 2004 Honda VTX for $2850 on the Atlanta Craigs List. If it’s too good to be true, it probably isn’t.
